Answer 1 :
Boston is a great city to bring kids, as long as the weather is nice when you come. Getting a 3+ star hotel anywhere in the immediate downtown area will be fine; lots of hotels to choose from - but having something in the immediate downtown area will allow you to be within walking and subway distance to most activities. For kids; my suggestion is the Aquarium and the Science Museum, both places are interesting for both kids and adults. Also, you can do the "Boston Duck" tours, for which you can get tickets at the science museum, and take a ride in a vehicle that goes both on land and water and gives you a tour of Boston.
Answer 2 :
Sound good to me. just stay away from dorchester, roxbury, mattapan, jamacia plain.
Answer 3 :
Oh the common will be beautiful this time of year, it is, i was there on Wednesday. I love Boston in the spring. Beacon Hill is a gorgeous neighborhood, also.

About travel from Boston to New York next summer

Travel from Boston to New York next summer?
My girlfriend and I are planning on flying out to Boston, getting a car, and travelling up the coast to New York to fly back to Denver. I'm looking for any ideas "off the beaten path" to see/do, and also, what is the best/cheapest way to plan this itinerary? She's never been to the East Coast, so I really want to make it a memorable trip. Our time frame is 1-1/2 weeks.

I'm from upstate NY - What do you like doing? What month are you coming. If its during the july/aug time I would say definitly stop at saratoga race track. Saratoga is beautiful and the race track is amazing! What airport are you flying out of?
Answer 2 :
I would definitely stay in Boston for a couple of days....great downtown...fun bars and shops...plenty to do. Then head down to Newport, Rhode Island....it is an older little town along the coast. It's really pretty and you can go on tours of old historic mansions....its not boring...its actually really interesting. Its a nice town to experience the ocean and stuff....very calm and relaxing. In upstate, NY Saratoga Springs is cool for the horse races. http://www.newportchamber.com/ Vermont is really pretty too....but since you're from Co you are better off seeing more of the ocean sites versus the mountains. NJ is really known for the ocean....and if you want to experience more of the craziness & bars......were everyone hangs out in the summer....that is the place to be...towns such as Point Pleasant, Belmar, Seaside, Wildwood all cater to the 20 somethings (age). Belmar is only about 1.5 hrs from NYC so you can easily spend a day or night there.

About what is the best time to travel through Boston in the morning

What is the best time to travel through Boston in the morning?
On Sunday I will be traveling I93 Southbound through Boston to Plymouth...My plan is to leave home around 5AM, which would put me in Boston around 8AM...what am I in for? Should I plan to be in Boston even earlier to avoid a lot of traffic? (getting into Boston later really isn't an option that day since I want to be in Plymouth no later than 9:30ish). On Monday, I will be traveling back northbound...what hours should I avoid Boston this day? Thanks so much for the help!

Answer 1 :
Sunday traffic should be light. No worries. Monday rush hour is roughly 6:30-9:30 a.m., so that's the time to avoid if you can.
Answer 2 :
In addition to avoiding the Monday morning rush hour 6:30 - 9:30 AM avoid the evening rush hour by not traveling (time leaving Plymouth) 3-6:30 PM.
Answer 3 :
Never... On the weekends it's not to bad the Braintree split is clear.. Monday NB is bad... typical delays: Marshfield (Rt 3 N Exit 12) (about 7A) Derby St. (Rt 3 N Exit 15 Hinghan) 730ish Braintree rotary (Rt 3 N Exit 17) Braintree Split (Rt 3/93 merge) 645 ish HOV (Nbound Sout east Expressway Southie at savenhill) anytime If is rains or snows forget it

Try Adirondak Trailways bus company.

Peter Pan does, and also leaves from Boston's South Station bus terminals. Or at least, it used to, a few years back when I did this.

About where can I buy cheap travel tickets from Boston to Upstate NY

Where can I buy cheap travel tickets from Boston to Upstate NY?
Where can I buy cheap bus or train tickets from Boston to Upstate NY(preferably to or near Albany)? I can travel from Boston to NYC for less than $15 using some travel companies but I can't find anything near that for travel from Boston to Albany or Upstate NY.

Answer 1 :
You could check Craigslist for tickets -- or find someone who wants to share a ride. That would probably be the cheapest way to go.
